Last Quarter Moon in Leo…with my deep reflection.

By Jongmee

I have been feeling incredibly grateful as of late…and have been inspired even more. The power of synchronicity has me in awe and I can’t sit quiet any longer…I must share.

For the past year I have been paying attention to myself and my body a lot more than I ever have before. Just a year ago I started taking yoga classes here and there…but never really consistently. If you recently read I finally took the plunge and signed up for unlimited yoga with an auto-draft out of my account every month. It was my way of holding myself accountable to actually GO to yoga class every week…if I’m paying for it monthly…then I had better go. So far…I can feel a shift in my whole being. I’m making time for me…and I’m taking responsibility.

Which brings me to another personal goal (which I originally wasn’t going to share) ….but I HAVE TO NOW!. For the past few weeks I have been talking about making November “NO WINE NOVEMBER” in attempt to limit my indulgence (for example…if I have one glass of wine, then I’ll want two…and then sometimes three). Well…that is all good and well but…what about those extra calories…what about working and writing and creating artwork with A CLEAR HEAD? Wine started to look like more of an escape for me rather than a special occasion…AND it makes me sleepy…so on the days that I spent daydreaming at work about coming home to write a really good post or draw something spectacular, wine winked and convinced me that if I had a glass I could relax more and create better…WRONG!!! It just made me more tired and I would end up asleep with no inspired work to share. So hence my “NO WINE NOVEMBER” goal has been set and I’m sticking to it (this includes all alcohol btw)…I’m going to get that IN CHECK…and then once I’ve punished it for this whole month I’ll limit my wine to special occasions like Christmas dinners, holiday dinners, fancy dinners, and if I’m cooking with wine then I can have a glass while I’m cooking. I don’t want to be the lady who is always buying wine at the grocery store…just because she can. Well…it gets better.

So as I am sitting here expressing myself to my family and friends and inviting anyone along who wants to join the challenge with me….God was sending me the vibes. After I told everyone who I wanted to know about my challenge I checked my e-mail and got my astrology newsletter… from HERE. NOW IF THAT DOESN’T GIVE YOU THE CHILLS…I don’t know what would. IT IS IN THE STARS MAN! Stinking Saturn is about to square Neptune CHALLENGING us to “sober up” for the month of November….AAAAAH. Saturn being the disciplinary planet! Y’all. God didn’t put those stars and planets in the sky for nothing. Just LOOK UP!

Phew…sorry that was long…BUT gah…what synchronicity.

Getting on to the moon…it is now a half moon in the Last Quarter moon phase and it is in Leo. Time to reflect (which I just did above)…and give THANKS for how far you have come. Really think about what has happened in the past and learn from it…but dear please do not dwell on it. Take what you need from it and move forward. If the past hurts…honey GET UP AND DANCE IT OFF. Stretch it off…flick it off. The Leo urges you to be playful. Laugh it off. What is done is done…YOU have right NOW. So make RIGHT NOW yours. There is nothing that is holding you back. I’ll leave you with this beautiful quote:

“God.

the eternal

unchanging

formless force

beneath the ever changing forms.

I am. you are. we are.

that.”

-Jes Allen

Just read that over and over and take a look around.

Full Moon in Taurus.

So the moon waxed into full last night…into Taurus. I’d have to say that every zodiac sign that falls on a full moon is my favorite…for one reason or another.

Taurus gives me a sense of balance…it gives me this direct feeling of full force of the bull but the gentle reminder that the bull is from this earth. Gentle. Unassuming. Mistaken at times. Yes, it can sometimes be intimidating on the surface, but deep down it is grounded…earthy.

Tonight and last night you may have felt like you could conquer the world…and rightly so, you could do whatever you please, if you really wanted to (but who wants the whole world really?)…while throwing caution to the wind seems romantically romantic…the Taurus reminds us of balance…of being grounded…and with that balance…little steps into a world of YOUR OWN develops…driven by your own desires…you can create YOUR OWN world…a creative life. After all…we are all seeking our truer selves.

Find your balance. Find what drives you and ground it into reality.

First Quarter Moon in Capricorn.

The Tivoli at 290 by Kelly Walden of The Walden Moon

The moon entered into Capricorn at the first quarter phase last night.

This is your first check in point. Your first half moon…a time to look at your New Moon Goal or New Moon Mindset again. Notice how far you have come and then make a note of the next steps to take for completing you goal/mindset by the Full Moon. This First Quarter Moon phase will be in Capricorn this month! Capricorn the Sea-Goat…a creature that is both fish and goat…one that can swim in the deepest seas and scale the scariest mountains. At this First Quarter Moon phase…think about how the Capricorn has a duality. Think of your duality for being the goal/mindset and the journey to complete it.

Then look back again at your New Moon goal that was in Virgo. Here is the link back to the past New Moon post. For me…I’ve been slowly, but surely, finding myself. Finding what is important to me…and discovering who I am. And this moon cycle I’ve fallen in love with the following passage I shared at the New Moon:

“The Virgin is an image of purity. Nothing has possessed her. She is attached to nothing, wants nothing, fears nothing. Nothing holds her. She is free, unbound by any earthly drama.

Yet she is here, on the earth. What does the world offer one who seeks nothing but perfection? What can she do? She waits, aloof as the Madonna. She works on herself. And to pass the time, she helps out where she can.” – Steven Forrest

^ Virgo…my sun sign…me.

In my next post…I’ll share something my friend shared with me…something that goes along with my Virgo New Moon goal…

Mercury in Retrograde.

The Tivoli River by Kelly Walden of the Walden Moon

Ah-ha…MERCURY, you sneaky one….no wonder I’ve felt so off leading up until today. Mercury is in retrograde and is to blame…and it’ll be in retrograde until October 9th. Time to turn inward.

Mercury is the planet that governs things like thinking, communication skills, and writing. It also happens to be the planet that rules Virgo and Gemini. Being a Virgo myself…I tend to want to know everything and I think way too much. Sometimes I get so lost in thinking that I create more problems than there really are…So be mindful of that when you start to reflect inward..

Being that Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun…it orbits the fastest around the Sun…so fast, that around three times per year, it appears to be moving backwards, or as they call it…retrograde. From September 17th, 2015 until October 9th, 2015 Mercury will be in retrograde…this means LOOK INWARD.

This is a time to reflect on life…to think about what’s ahead….but chill. This is NOT the time to make big decisions (wait at least two weeks after the retrograde is over before making decisions you think about during this time)….this is a time to think…plan…but sit…and sit…and sit with yourself and evaluate your life. Think about what has come and what has passed. Ask yourself big questions…questions you haven’t asked yourself before…questions you are afraid of asking yourself…

This is the time for…reading this:

“I want to watch the blue mist of the night come on,

The windows and the stars illumined, one by one,

The rivers of dark smoke pour upward lazily,

And the moon rise and turn them silver.

I shall see the springs, the summers, and the autumns slowly pass;

And when old winter puts his blank face to the glass,

I shall close all my shutters, pull the curtains tight,

And build me stately palaces of candlelight”

– Charles Baudelaire, translation from Landscape, Flowers of Evil

NOW is the time…to build your stately palaces of candlelight…don’t even wait for winter to get here…from the feel of it, AUTUMN is going to be a chilly one…and with Mercury in retrograde, WE need a little candlelight..

P.S. That photograph was from today…it’s the Tivoli river that runs along my neighborhood…I was headed to pick up Ava from dance and saw the sky and made a short stop to the public dock for a little photo-op.

P.S.S. MOM and DAD….hurry up and move back down south so you can kick the renters out of your house and settle back in…because I’d really love to walk on YOUR dock whenever I want…instead of the public one…I mean really! 🙂

New Moon in Virgo.

Blowing Smoke Signals by Kelly Walden of The Walden Moon

Virgo…the Virgin…the perfectionist. To put it in the best words…here is an excerpt from The Inner Sky by Steven Forrest:

“The Virgin is an image of purity. Nothing has possessed her. She is attached to nothing, wants nothing, fears nothing. Nothing holds her. She is free, unbound by any earthly drama.

Yet she is here, on the earth. What does the world offer one who seeks nothing but perfection? What can she do? She waits, aloof as the Madonna. She works on herself. And to pass the time, she helps out where she can.” – Steven Forrest

Read that ten times. Take inspiration from that when you set your New Moon Goal or New Moon Mindset.

Take the next few days if you have to…but come up with your New Moon goal or mindset! Remember a New Moon is for new beginnings…a time to start something new…or just simply plant a seed of good intention and let it blossom! See if you can accomplish this by the next Full Moon!! (Coming up on September 27/28)!!!

Love & Moonlight,

Kelly

P.S. I’m a Vigo sun sign…. wink!

Last Quarter Moon in Gemini and Cancer.

lastquarter_kellywalden_thewaldenmoon

The Last Quarter Moon phase is a time for reflection. When it entered into this phase last night it was in Gemini…but tonight it is in Cancer.

Gemini can offer you the drive to know it all. The twins…the two talking heads. One to listen and one to talk. This type of archetype thrives on communication and storytelling. If you feel yourself getting too antsy to go, go, goooo and know it all…settle for a moment and take a breath. Knowledge is great…but learning to calm that “go, go, go, to know it all” will benefit you in the long run. Learn as much as you can…but really savor each morsel of information you acquire…and be mindful of what you let others know you know. Humbleness is something we can use within the next few days. Thank yourself for knowing what you do know…and then cultivate a cancerian nature.

Cancer…the cancerian…the crab. The one with a hard shell but a soft inside. A delicate…yet succulent being. Underneath it all…underneath the hard outer shell is a morsel of goodness. Tender and sweet…the cancerian holds the feelings of deliciousness and protects it with its shell. As the Gemini gathers all the information, the crab stores it under its shell…and when the shell becomes too small from growth…the crab finds a new shell to expand even more. Cultivate the cancerian nature to gather and protect your knowledge and feelings…because just like all great mysteries, once they are solved and uncovered, you find a delicious and succulent being inside. Be wise with who you let solve your mystery.

Full Super Moon in Pisces.

It’s a SUPER MOON tonight and it happens to be the Blueberry Full Moon in Pisces!

This FULL MOON is in PISCES. Pisces, the fishes, are the imaginaries. The mystic, the dreamer, the artist…this is a time to be creative and let your new moon goal COME TO LIFE! It is also called the Sturgeon or blueberry moon for this month. For you animal lovers, this could be a good time to honor the fish, especially since it is the sturgeon full moon and the moon is in Pisces. Go SWIMMING! And eat some blueberries as they are in season now! BAKE a pie or torte!

Because it is a SUPER MOON…the moon will appear really big as it is closer to the Earth in it’s orbit! As you should know…the next two full moons will be super moons!

THINGS COME IN THREES!

If you are into rituals and good energy…tonight is a good night to send some good vibes!

Tomorrow is my birthday…I’ll write some more goods then! For tonight…feel the LOVE!

First Quarter Moon in Sagittarius.

Jessie M. King, The Dove-Cot by the Sea, 1905. Watercolor on parchment. Glasgow, Scottland. Via University of Heidelberg

The moon entered Sagittarius last night during the first quarter moon phase. Sagittarius…the archer. The seeker of knowledge. The seeker of life. Steven Forrest best describes the Sagittarian’s archetype in The Inner Sky as “The Gypsy, The Student, and The Philosopher” in that hierarchical order.

So how can we use these archetypes during the first quarter moon phase?! By honing in on their instinctual nature as the perpetual student of life we can think about how far we have come and recheck back in with ourselves. The first quarter moon phase is a half way point, a check in point…a half moon. When working with the moon as your natural time clock to get things done…this is the moment when you check back in with your new moon goal. The Sagittarian’s archetype came at the right time!

It begins as the gypsy, who is constantly seeking experience. The wanderer. The one who doesn’t sit still as he or she is on the go reeling in life at present moment. The gypsy is the one that gathers the information through experience. Without the gypsy, we are left closed minded. Be open minded…live. This can represent your new moon goal…the thing you are currently experiencing.

Then once you’ve started to gather this information and these experiences you become the STUDENT. For every encounter, for every triumph, for every hiccup, you learn from it. Your mind expands and you try to do better. This is your half way point…your first quarter moon phase. This is when you sit back down, look at your new moon goal AGAIN…check back in with yourself and your progress and LEARN from it. Be the student. Look at the goal and your progress of what worked and what didn’t…and then KEEP MOVING…KEEP DOING.

When the full moon comes…become the PHILOSOPHER. Master your skill…master your goal. Put what the gypsy and student provided and make things happen. Keep in mind that the philosopher is also an open minded student of life. He takes everything in and doesn’t let a set of standards dictate his life. After all, life is ever changing…and what you may believe today may shape into something different later in life. The key to a Sagittarian is to continuously be the gypsy, the student, and the philosopher. A good habit to get into. Make room for expansion!

Remember in the beginning of this current moon cycle…you set a new moon goal. You are continuously making room for that goal to be incorporated into your life…you’ve already made a promise to yourself to EXPAND! You have already begun to act like a Sagittarius. Because after all we ALL have Sagittarius in us…your natal chart is proof.

As for me...well my new moon goal was to get better at my culinary skills and primping. Next post I’ll be sharing a Blueberry Cobbler recipe!

Love & Moonlight,

Kelly

P.S. I picked the painting above for this moon cycle to pair it with the archetypal Sagittarius. It’s a watercolor painting of wandering women by the sea with a dove-cot or dovecote. She’s surrounded by either doves or pigeons. To me it looked free spirited. A dovecote is an old medieval structure that noble people used to house pigeons and doves almost like a chicken coop. They kept pigeons and doves as a food source as well as used their poop for fertilizer. What I see in this painting is a free spirited gypsy woman with free flying doves of knowledge.

Crescent Moon in Libra

by Carlos Masberger

The moon is now in the crescent moon phase and is currently sitting in Libra. Libra…the scales.. The peacemaker. The level headed. The one that balances it all.

For tonight and the next couple days…let life be what it is. Don’t get worked up about things…let it go…and just be. Surrender to YOURSELF…and if you’ve been troubled by a situation or someone, stop giving it or them the power to control your emotions.  Take the next couple days to care, but do it carelessly. Take the good and the bad and accept them both. For what it’s worth…everything has a balance. Life is not black and white…it has more color than the naked eye can see. Nothing is permanent. Life is always changing. YOU have the power to live the way you want to live and to leave behind what isn’t serving you. So do it.

New Moon In Leo

The New Moon was in Leo just two days ago…and is still in the new moon phase but is waxing it’s way to full. My first week back from vacation has been a whirlwind and I’m just NOW sitting down…and it’s 10:30 at night…on a Sunday. After being on call…having a busy week at work…and then getting rear ended today…I think I’m ready for some down time…hurry up cocktail Monday, I might need you this time.

With the new moon in Leo, the lion…think about your new moon goal and let Leo help you get your inner thoughts and imagination to COME OUT and be seen. Leo can help you be expressive and give your thoughts and goals a meaning. Let the Leo lion coax your inner mind to shine OUTWARDLY! And while you are shining from the inside out…put on something fancy to go along with it! Look the part! Because…that Leo said so…and he is good at it, so he can show you how!

For me…my new moon goal is to dress up everyday…instead of rolling out of bed and into the car. I’m notorious for doing that and not brushing my hair. This cycle I want to work on my grooming. Haha. Not to say that I’m a slob…I just don’t take the extra time to primp.

I also want to work on my culinary skills and organizing my recipes. Just finished cleaning out the spice cabinet and pantry…and I want to make a list of what I have and then find some recipes to what I have on hand. Given that this months full moon is the BLUEBERRY moon, I hope to share some blueberry dishes…and I already have one lined up! My Grandma’s blueberry cobbler recipe she got from Imogen and Duke will be popping in sometime before the full moon. Maybe even some printable lists for list making too!

Kelly
